All puppies are microchipped before they leave my kennel. This is a very safe way to identify an animal.
A microchip is a passive device that needs radio waves to activate. These waves are generated by the reader.
It consists of an integrated circuit with a pre-programmed fifteen-digit number. This system measures approx. 9mm x 1.5mm and is embedded in a glass capsule. When we look at it, it looks like a grain of rice (measures approx. 12mm x 2.1mm).
This unique (in terms of code) identification does not lose its value over the years, nor does it stain like tattoos.
Leashes, fences, closed doors may seem to be sufficient protection against the death of an animal at first glance, but accidents do happen. Although there is no guarantee that this method of identification will work in one hundred percent of cases, microchip technology significantly increases our chances of returning a lost pet.
