Australian Labradoodle they come from one of two lines - Rutlands and Tegan Park. These are two research centers in Australia that began work on creating a new breed 20 years ago. AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLES are dogs whose ancestors were Labradors and Poodles - but not only! In their veins flows the blood of: English and American Cocker Spaniels, Irish Water Spaniels and Soft Coated Wheaten (from Irish lines). These breeds were introduced to the line for a specific purpose (to eliminate certain defects), a specific time (time is of the essence), a specific number of times (usually 1 or 2). Selective breeding conducted for 20 years with a particular focus on:
– high health standards
- specific temperament
- Allergy-friendly fur
They led to what we recognize today as the ASD Australian Labradoodle. ASDs pass on a uniform appearance and temperament to their offspring. The success of ASD can also be said in terms of health - out of 7,000 cases, about 20 were diagnosed with dysplasia.
Labradoodle (not Australian) This is usually a cross between a Labrador and a Poodle (F1). In such a cross it is difficult to predict temperament, appearance and health issues - especially regarding birth defects such as dysplasia are questionable. Whether a dog's coat will be allergy-friendly is a lottery. The creator's notes show that the beginnings of the breed (F1) were difficult - they were huge and hyperactive dogs - the owners were often unable to cope with them. Dishonest breeders sold such crosses claiming that they were 100% hypoallergenic - it often ended in misfortune when the family had to give away their pooch because it caused allergic reactions in one of its members.
AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLES ARE NOT A CROSS-BOUND OF LABRADORS AND POODLES. ASD ARE FROM THESE BREEDS BUT ARE NOT A DIRECT CROSS OF THEM. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ASD AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLES AND LABRADOODLES CREATED BY CROSSING A LABRADOR AND A PODEL.
ATTENTION! Check carefully in the pedigree in which generation the nicknames Tegan Park and Rutland Manor are present and they should be in one of the last generations. This way you are sure of the authenticity of the line. Some organizations allow Au Labradoodles to be mated with other breeds. You don't have to unknowingly become a victim of the experiment!
